History of the Tabernacle

Established in the mid-1900s, Eighth Tabernacle Beth-El, Albany New York was pastored by Evangelist Henry Delaney until he passed in 1958.  After the passing of Evangelist Delaney, Elder Samuel Quattlebaum conducted the services until around 1963.  When Elder Samuel Quattlebaum returned to Brooklyn, services in Albany ceased until around 1976. During 1976 Evangelist Benjamin Quattlebaum conducted a home going service, and the place was packed, thereby reigniting interest.  Evangelist Benjamin Quattlebaum used that interest to start holding services at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Albany, NY.

From Mt. Olive, the congregation moved into a location on Clinton avenue in Albany, NY.  Around 1978, a building was purchased at 151-153 Jay Street. Brother Nathanael Quattlebaum conducted services at the request of his brother Evangelist Benjamin Quattlebaum. Brother Nathaniel was made an Elder around 1980.

A number of elders have supported the spiritual growth of the Eighth Tabernacle Albany.  Elder Solomon Leach served the congregation from April 2014 until August of 2016.  Elder Simon Quattlebaum served from then until 2019.  In 2019, Elder Ricky Taylor was sent to pastor the Albany tabernacle.
